Writing an enquiry

What to include

None of this is mandatory, but the more of it a first message contains, the more specific our reply can be.

  • The outcome you needWhat should be true once the work is done — a process that runs unattended, a system that can be released weekly, a report that reconciles.
  • The systems involvedApplications, platforms, databases or third-party services that are in scope, and roughly how old they are.
  • Current state and historyWhether this is new development, a change to something running, or a review of a system someone else built.
  • ConstraintsFixed dates, regulatory or data-residency requirements, technologies you must keep or must avoid, internal approvals needed.
  • Who is involvedThe people we would work with day to day, and who makes the final decision on scope.
  • Timeframe and budget rangeEven an approximate range helps us say early whether the shape of the work is realistic.
  • Access considerationsAny restrictions on data or environments we should know about before discussing details.

Handling of your message

What happens to what you send

Enquiries are read by our engineering staff and kept only for as long as needed to answer them and, where relevant, to carry out the resulting work. Please do not send production credentials, personal data of your customers, or confidential documents in a first message.

If an engagement proceeds, access and data handling are agreed in writing before we connect to anything. Our general data practices are described in the Privacy Policy.
